The collection of things ... and other stories – In the third event of the Stadt(t)räume project series, the topics revolve around stories, secrets, and hidden things of a city. The idea is to allow plenty of room for drama in his mysticism and fantasy.

Most artists collect things to perceive them, in which they pay special attention to keep them from disappearing; objects that have subjective values and meanings, and their influence can not be underestimated as they act as a "silent companion" in their artistic work processes.
In Event # 03, we want to focus our attention on these things by artists; on all the artifacts, fragments, relics, ... which are not necessarily consciously planned and not meant as art, but radiate a kind of sensual presence and magical aura. Things that serve the creative community in the form of direct or indirect sources of inspiration.
For this purpose artists will be asked to lend their "treasures" to our project. In a poetic way these personal things are  intertwined in a total installation, so that the individual exhibits arise in a special structure with multiple layers of meaning and interpretation.
Preserving and making visible / things of everyday life / culture lies in the range of special museums with this focus. Following the practise of such institutions will a merge the installation-production, which will make up the hidden artistic creativity within a city and create new and interesting narratives.

... and other stories

Under the title "Can you hear the grass grow" the GrashalmProjekt of Thomas May (* 1971, lives and works in Nuremberg/Germany) is present with a stand at the exhibition. To approach in an artistic way of the "phenomenon" grass, the visitors are invited to stay and carve by them self a blade of grass.

The "GrashalmInstitut" has dealt for years with the phenomenon of grass as a cultural medium. The institute examines interrelations between human and the blade of grass, documented them and worked them in interventions, lectures, workshops, field trials and installations out.

With "The Lore of Tatarî Oğuz Effendi" the third Stadt(t)räume event is taken to an end. In the presentation of the book Tatarî Oğuz Effendi in Basel – Reminiscences of a Journalist by the author Ben Wineblum (* 1981, lives and works in Berlin/D) literature, art, and degustation will be brought together. During his reading all guests will also find the chance to indulge in the magical chocolate The Lore that is produced according to Tatarî’s yet-unseen recipe.
